Privacy Policy

Last updated

Short version: BlurTap edits your photos and videos on your iPhone. We never receive, upload, store or look at them. We don’t require an account, and we don’t sell data.

This policy explains how BlurTap (“we”, “us”) handles information in the BlurTap iPhone app (the “App”) and on blurtap.com (the “Website”).

1. Your photos and videos

All face, license plate, text and address detection, all blurring, and all metadata removal happen locally on your device. The photos and videos you open in the App are not transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no access to them.

The App asks for access to your photo library so it can open the items you select and save the edited copies you create. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. The App does not modify or delete your originals.

2. Information the App collects

  • No account. The App does not ask for your name, email address or phone number.
  • No tracking. The App does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites and does not contain third-party advertising.
  • Purchases. If the App offers in-app purchases, they are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details. Apple may share limited, non-identifying transaction information with us, such as which product was bought, so the purchase can be honored.
  • Crash and usage reports. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS settings, Apple may provide us with anonymized crash logs and usage statistics. You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

3. The Website

  • Hosting. The Website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • No cookies, no analytics. The Website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or analytics trackers.
  • Free online tool. The face blur tool at /tools/blur-face/ runs entirely in your browser. The face detection model is downloaded from our site to your browser, and your image is processed there. Your image is never sent to our servers or anyone else’s.
  • Email. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply and keep a record of the conversation.

4. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

5. Children

BlurTap is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California under the CCPA/CPRA, or the EU and UK under the GDPR), you may have the right to know, access, correct or delete personal information about you, and to object to certain processing. Because the App doesn’t collect personal information, there is usually nothing to access. If you’ve emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, contact us at the address below.

7. Security and retention

Your photos stay on your device and are protected by iOS. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you and for our records, then deleted.

8. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the App’s release notes.
